"At the River's Edge: Shedding Light on the Sex Industry"
All too often, people turn a blind eye to those who work in the commercial sex industry. The stigmatizations and stereotypes only create more room for human trafficking and abuse to happen unnoticed. In Seattle, resources are available, but how will they know about it unless someone tells them? Hardly any organizations in the area have frontline workers reaching out and sharing resources. Light of Love seeks to meet this need by being a first point of contact disrupting the cycles of isolation and silence.
Light of Love, a faith based nonprofit organization, develops relationships with commercial sex workers while sharing God’s unconditional love and offering resources. We cultivate relationships through consistency: regularly visiting strip clubs in the greater Seattle area, reaching out to people who work on Aurora Avenue, and ministering at Exxxotica, a national porn convention. Our vision is for each person in the sex industry to experience and know God’s love and to have the support they need to flourish in their God given identity and purpose.
